VogueThe highly anticipated September 2021 issue of September sets the stage for the fashion renaissance – and the upcoming Met Gala – by hosting an office dance party.
Ethan James Green has captured eight models, which are described by the magazine as “distinctly glamorous,” as they move around Condé Nast’s not-so-glamorous booths in the latest designer party sets. The looks signify the sartorial return of the sexy, with Kaia Gerber wearing a bodycon mini dress from Tom Ford and Lola Leon in a tight and shimmering look from the Michael Kors Collection; Anok Yai wears a glamorous dress from the Ralph Lauren collection, while Bella Hadid poses in a sequined creation by Christopher John Rogers; Yumi Nu dons a crimson, tight-fitting Mara Hoffman midi dress, Sherry Shi a buttery Proenza Schouler costume; Precious Lee as Carolina Herrera and Ariel Nicholson as Christopher John Rogers round out the group.
The September issue always sets the tone for next year in fashion and culture, which is why the glossary’s heavily watched Fall 2021 style pages center around the idea of ââfresh starts. Not only does it come out as New York prepares for the first in-person fashion week in over a year, but it also marks the most extensive global content collaboration for Vogue since Condé Nast merged its international and US branches and promoted Anna Wintour to its global head. Readers around the world will see a different model or celebrity on newsstands this month, but they’ll find many of the same images and profiles inside, including an article highlighting emerging designers and one on Miuccia. Prada and Raf Simons.
All the Vogue editions share a common cover theme by presenting their own interpretation of a sunrise. British Vogue went with the literal approach of having Gemma Chan pose in a sparkling Huishan Zhang dress as the sun rose over the River Thames in London. American Vogue was more abstract, linking its broadcast to the upcoming Met Gala, which celebrates American fashion (hence the American designers featured on the cover).
