Department of Fashion and Textiles

The Fashion and Textiles Department is the largest department in the school, providing training in design, leadership and strategy and marketing, at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The department supports one of Europe’s largest international student communities studying fashion leadership, management and strategy programs, while maintaining a long-standing reputation for developing high-level design practices and of craft skills. The department supports a diverse and inclusive research environment, with notable strengths in fashion and textiles and cultural history, critical luxury studies, sustainability, and innovation in textiles and electronic materials.

About the role

This role focuses on maintaining our growing national and international reputation in fashion leadership, including marketing, management, branding and digital contexts, in this ever-evolving field. The role will focus on high quality education and research that complements the broader school and university research and education strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing school, which encompasses education, research and enterprise, with a focus on student experience, research-based programs, as well as collaborations with industry partners.

About you

You will have teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as the opportunity to develop research activities in your discipline. A key aspect of this role is being able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the school, as well as contribute to research projects/proposals, participate in the development of curricula and align your work with university and school education and training. search strategies.

You will have a growing reputation in fashion marketing and management, with interests in sustainability, research practice, research methodologies and global fashion leadership in different sectors, including the luxury sector. You will be part of a dynamic group of academics who are paving the way to fashion leadership. Relevant academic and industrial experience is welcome.

You will demonstrate a defined research portfolio relevant to the field, including burgeoning areas of interest; provide pathways to high quality research; contribute to the supervision of postdoctoral research; and evidence engagement with research funding applications/projects and external research communities. The school welcomes high levels of research collaboration and an interest in interdisciplinary work is an advantage.
